The Shop 916 gift card promotion is relaunching, making it easy for residents to support local businesses during the holiday season. From November 1 through February 15, 2026, shoppers can enjoy bonus spending when purchasing Shop 916 gift cards—ideal for holiday gifting or treating oneself.
“With over 120 Sacramento businesses part of the program, the Shop 916 gift card is all you need to make loved ones smile while helping our local economy thrive,” said Valerie Mamone, the City’s project development manager responsible for the program. “We are excited to be able to host this program again to promote local shopping and gift giving and welcome more local businesses to join this great effort.”

- Buy a $25 gift card, get a $10 bonus card
- Buy a $50 gift card, get a $25 bonus card
- Buy a $100 gift card, get a $50 bonus card
Bonus cards expire on March 31, 2026. Shoppers can purchase their card at shop916local.com.
Since the program’s launch in 2021, over $1.1 million in Shop 916 gift and bonus cards have been sold.
This year, Yiftee, the web-based platform supporting Shop 916, added Google and Apple Wallet integration, which enables cardholders to instantly tap-to-pay when redeeming their Shop 916 cards. Now cardholders can easily find their digital cards in the Yiftee Apple App, or their digital wallets for convenient access.
Volume discount program
For larger groups, Shop 916 offers a volume discount program on purchases of $1,000 or more, ideal for employee rewards or holiday incentives, which waives card fees (current promotion does not apply to bulk purchases).
Free to sign up for local businesses
All local storefront retailers located in the city can participate. The program is open to all businesses within the city of Sacramento that have 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees, with the exception of home-based businesses, franchises, liquor-only stores and cannabis businesses.
