The City of Sacramento has opened its third round of applications for grants for its City of Festivals program to support special events taking place across Sacramento.
The third application round will be open until Feb. 28 for events that will be held between May 1 and Aug. 31, 2023. Any individual or organization that would like to put on an event within the city of Sacramento may apply for the grant.
“We are thrilled this program is in its third round and that it’s able to support our communities by bringing people together to enjoy our public spaces,” said the City’s Program Manager Sabrina Teft.
The City awarded $125,000 to support 27 city-wide and community events in the first round of applications. Staff are still finalizing grants from round two. One more application rounds are expected to be held in May.
To ensure distribution of resources and support for events throughout the city, $75,000 has been allocated to each council district area.
To qualify, the special events must be consistent with family-oriented themes, support arts and cultural entertainment and activities, promote a healthier living environment and enhance the quality of life in the city.
The maximum grant award is $7,500. Grant funds may be used to pay costs incurred in connection with the special event, including City costs for police services, parking and permits, and other event expenditures such as private security, portable restrooms, and event fencing.
Funding for the City of Festivals program comes from the $8.2 million in American Rescue Plan Funds for small business priorities, which was approved as part of the Mayor’s ARP spending framework.
