City Department of Utilities staff are reminding people that instant rebates are available on certain kinds of water fixtures at SMUD’s Energy Store.
The rebates apply to water-saving shower heads, smart irrigation controllers and faucet aerators.
“We’re proud to partner with SMUD to help people save water and money,” said William Granger, the City’s water conservation coordinator. “Switching to a smart controller will save the most water because the average household uses at least 60 percent of its annual water use outdoors.”
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, an average home can save up to 15,000 gallons each year with a smart irrigation controller.
Instant rebates are available only to City of Sacramento water customers and people can find them by visiting the Energy Store webpage.
The City has been partnering with SMUD to offer instant rebates since 2018.
