City of Sacramento extends operations of its weather-respite centers through March 3

The City of Sacramento is extending weather-respite operations at its Outreach and Engagement Center and the North Fifth Street Shelter lobby through Friday morning (March 3), as the region continues to face a period of rain and cold nighttime temperatures.

Both locations will be open for short-term weather respite from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Walk-ups will be accepted, with the OEC (3615 Auburn Blvd.) able to accommodate up to 50 guests and the North Fifth shelter lobby (700 North Fifth St.) able to accommodate up to 20 guests. (Please note that North Fifth is for adults only and is unable to accommodate pets.)

Sacramento Regional Transit is providing free rides to and from local weather-respite centers. (See below.)

The City will continue to monitor the National Weather Service’s forecast and extend weather-respite operations as needed.
