Do you own property that is vacant or underutilized?
Owners of vacant or blighted parcels can turn their lots into agricultural land and receive a tax break through the City’s Urban Agriculture Incentive Zone program (UAIZ).
“Putting your vacant property into urban ag use is a great way to activate your space and the surrounding community,” said Amy Yang, City associate planner. “The City is hosting an upcoming informational session to help get you started.”
This program was created to encourage property owners to dedicate their vacant or underutilized lots to urban agriculture uses for a period of five years and, in return, receive a property tax benefit.
The City is hosting an online informational session for the program at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 14. This webinar will cover the details of the application process and provide an opportunity for community members to have their questions answered.

The Urban Agriculture Incentive Zone Application is available for download on the program website. Deadline to apply is Nov. 1.
