The City of Sacramento is inviting artists to submit their artwork for consideration to be featured in an upcoming exhibit focused on caregivers, parents, and guardians who engage in artistic pursuits during their off-hours.
The showcase, titled “When I Can,” is part of the City’s Emerging Curators Fellowship initiative and lead by this year’s Fellow Bridgètt Rex. It will be hosted at the City Hall Robert T. Matsui Gallery from May 10 through Aug. 30.
“The exhibition aims to celebrate the creative endeavors of individuals who persist in their artistic pursuits while juggling various responsibilities, whether within or outside the traditional workplace,” Rex said. “When they can, artists continue to create while balancing work and life responsibilities.”
Local, regional, and international artists, as well as artist teams who are also caregivers, parents, or guardians can apply. Artwork can be in various stages of completion, from finished pieces to works in progress, or even concepts that are not completed (visual representations are required for such cases).
Those interested having their art featured in the exhibit can apply here by March 10. Application questions can be sent to bridgettrex.creative@gmail.com
