In celebration of Family History Week, the Center for Sacramento History is inviting the public to attend its two free genealogy presentations on April 5 to uncover family history and explore Sacramento’s rich heritage.
Participants will have the chance to learn more about conducting research at the center, followed by an exclusive tour of the collection storage vault.
As the official historical archives of both the City and County of Sacramento, the center is home to government records and private collections dating back to 1849.
“These records are particularly useful to genealogists seeking to trace their family roots,” said City Historian Marcia Eymann “From naturalization records to probate files, court case documents, property records, and even coroner and cemetery records, our collection provides a comprehensive glimpse into the lives of early settlers.”
Interested individuals need to register for the presentation and tour, with two time slots available: 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Those unable to secure a spot may join the standby list for a chance to participate. Tour registration will close at 10 a.m. April 4.
The event will take place at the Center for Sacramento History (551 Sequoia Pacific Blvd.). Facility tours are scheduled for 20 minutes each, offering attendees a firsthand look at the center’s archival facilities and collections.
