Sacramento nighttime hospitality industry invited to upcoming safety events

The City of Sacramento Office of Nighttime Economy will host two free upcoming events designed to support and educate the Sacramento nighttime hospitality industry. These events, to be held at 300 Richards Blvd., Room 221, will provide valuable training and information to help businesses operate safely and effectively.

“Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and informed nightlife environment in Sacramento,” said Tina Lee-Vogt, the City’s nighttime economy manager. “These training sessions give businesses the tools they need to address concerns like sexual harassment and domestic violence, while also fostering open communication with our team.”

Oct. 17 from 3 to 5 p.m.
“Pubs, Clubs, and Bars” Training

This free event will cover essential business and safety practices and will include support from various City departments and nonprofit partners. City representatives from the Office of Nighttime Economy, the Entertainment Services Division, the Sacramento Police Department, the Sacramento Fire Department, and Code Compliance are anticipated to attend. Nonprofit partners such as WEAVE and Fenta Nah will also be present. This quarterly training fosters engagement and relationship-building with staff.

Oct. 24 from 3 to 5 p.m.
“Silence Doesn’t Work Here” Training with WEAVE

This free, two-hour training program aims to raise awareness about domestic violence during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Led by WEAVE, this session will provide businesses with essential knowledge on how to recognize and respond to domestic violence, while also ensuring that workplaces offer support and have policies aligned with legal protections for victims. RSVPs are required. Email Madeline Ng at mng@weaveinc.org to RSVP or for any additional questions.

Both events will provide attendees with valuable insights and practical skills to enhance the safety and management of their establishments.
